H&M’s designer collaborations have been some of the most anticipated and highly coveted releases within the last few years. The mega brand’s partnerships with names like Maison Margiela, Alexander Wang, and Balmain have delivered more accessible and relatively affordable iterations of the labels’ high-end designs, so it’s no surprise the collections generate a good amount of hype before flying off the shelves. And it looks like the brand’s latest collaboration will have the same success.
Since announcing its partnership with Kenzo in May, H&M has dropped several sneak peeks at what the range will offer. But now, a month before its official release, the fast-fashion brand has come through with the official lookbook which showcases every piece in the H&M x Kenzo collection.
The range of mens and womenswear is exactly what you would expect from the Parisian fashion house and its head designers, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim. Bold colors, an assortment of textures, exaggerated silhouettes, and clashing patterns take fall/winter staples to the next level. Pieces such as crewneck sweatshirts, light outerwear, trousers, and headwear also feature prints that were based on archival motifs—ensuring the original spirit of Kenzo is preserved and celebrated.
“What Kenzo Takada [Kenzo’s founder] began was so revolutionary; it’s what attracted us to the brand to begin with,” Leon told Vogue in a May interview. “The idea is to celebrate where he began and where we’ve taken it—not only the archive of what he did but what we’ve worked on. We’re taking a look at how the two can merge in a true conversation.”
